We've got the answers for your questions

Have questions about getting started, fees, or finding the right therapist in Austin? We're here to help.

What is the difference between your Clinical Therapists and your Clinical Associates?

Our Clinical Therapists are fully licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Our Clinical Associates are Licensed Professional Counselor Interns or Licensed Marriage and Family Associates. They have completed a Masters Degree and passed the required exams to be licensed. They are currently completing their required 3000 hours under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor.

How do I make an appointment?

If you are ready to make an appointment with one of our therapists, you can call 512-298-3381 to speak to one of our Intake Therapists. You can also email info@austinfamilycounseling and one of our Intake Therapists will contact you. The Intake Therapist will ask you a few questions about what is bringing you to counseling at this time. This will help us match you with the best therapist. The Intake Therapist will also go over fees, paperwork, and set up your first appointment.

Do I get to choose which therapist I see?

Absolutely. If you were referred to a specific therapist or if you feel a connection with someone based on their bio, feel free to request that therapist when you speak to one of our Intake Therapists.

What does a counseling session cost?

Our fees vary depending on which therapist you see and the length of your session. You can find out each therapists fee by going to their bio’s on Our Therapists Page.

Does AFC accept health insurance?

We are not on any health insurance panels. However, our Clinical Therapists are happy to provide you with a monthly statement of services rendered, which you can then use to file for partial reimbursement through your health insurance policy when applicable. We recommend you review your benefits to determine your expected reimbursement.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, or credit card.
