A Letter From Our Founder

January 2024

Dear AFC Community,

I am beyond grateful and humbled to celebrate Austin Family Counseling’s 10-Year Anniversary in the Austin community in 2024! When we opened our doors at our first office in Westlake in January of 2014, we had a small team of amazing therapists who were singularly focused on helping YOU – the amazing families we support – find hope and healing. If you have been to a therapy session at AFC, I extend my gratitude to you for supporting our small practice. My sincerest hope is that you have benefitted from your counseling experience and that you know we are here for you in every season of life at Austin Family Counseling.

Personally, my kids were just 2 and 4 when we opened, and now they are 12 and 14.  In many ways, AFC has been like one of my kids – growing and blossoming in ways I never would have imagined, and presenting many challenges and opportunities for me to grow too.  When you have come to counseling sessions with a therapist at Austin Family Counseling, you have been a part of a larger community of people who are invested in making relationships better. Hundreds of individuals, couples, and families have trusted us during some of the most difficult times in their lives, and I hope you know we’ve been right there alongside you – doing the work too.  I could not ask for a more compassionate, caring, and encouraging group of professionals who currently work with or have worked at AFC – they are truly incredible folks!  And believe me when I tell you they go home each night thinking about how they can better support YOU and your family.  

So if you’ve been thinking about starting counseling for the first time, coming back in for some additional support, or reaching out with questions, we are here for you! We have learned a LOT in the past decade, and fortunately it all goes to better serving you, our most valued clients.
