Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we will ever do.
-Brene Brown
Welcome! Taking the first steps toward getting help for you or your child can seem frightening. It is important to remember that you are not alone. Life brings about challenges that can leave us feeling fragmented and disconnected. I view my role as empowering you to overcome these challenges by tapping into your innate desire to adapt, change, and grow, as well as, helping you identify negative thinking or behavior patterns that no longer serve you. I value an authentic therapeutic relationship and am committed to embracing and being sensitive to differing worldviews, backgrounds, and all the factors that make us unique. I strive to meet you where you are, sit with you in your discomfort, and help create a safe environment as you work towards positive lasting change without feelings of shame or guilt.

A Little About Me
Clinical Me
I graduated from the University of Mississippi, where I received a B.A. in Education. After six years as a special education teacher, I earned an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in school counseling. I have clinical experience in schools, clinics, and crisis counseling at Hope’s Door New Beginning Center, where I counseled survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
Personal Me
My dedication and commitment as a counselor stem from my passion for understanding the complex relationships between trauma, anxiety, and depression. As a teacher, I became acutely aware of families and children’s many unmet needs around mental health and its effects. In addition, my own parents’ addiction and unaddressed mental and physical health concerns overshadowed my childhood. Losing my mother when I was eleven and having an absent father, I bounced around homes. I dealt with feelings of abandonment and rejection from an early age. I am no stranger to the lifelong road we walk in our mental health journey, and I devote my life to helping children, adolescents, and adults as they walk this path.
Specialties
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, who experience various behavioral and emotional concerns. I have a special place in my heart for those dealing with trauma, perfectionism, and low self-esteem. I also enjoy working and offering support for parents and caregivers struggling with the parent-child relationship. When appropriate, I also combine mindfulness-based strategies to help my clients cope with somatic trauma responses that may be present. I am also a Certified Positive Discipline: Keeping the Joy in Relationships Facilitator and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
When I am not with clients, I enjoy yoga, hiking, being at the lake, traveling, cooking, reading, playing with my dog, Ranger, and watching TV.
