Lea Comte, M.S., R-DMT (she/they)
As a dance & movement therapist I guide children with a body-centered approach that prioritizes their mental health and social-emotional learning through movement. I utilize individual and small group modalities to present children with opportunities to incorporate mindfulness, creative and structured movement, locomotor skills, dance, games, and more to promote self-confidence, creative expression, emotional-regulation, bodily sensation recognition, and social awareness.
I received my bachelors in Human Development from University of Texas at Dallas and hold a Master of Science from Pratt Institute in Dance and Movement in Creative Therapy. My Post-Graduate Certificate in Infant Mental Health Support comes from the work of dance & movement therapist Suzi Tortora in her Ways of Seeing Program.
You can get a glimpse into my work by viewing my TEDx highlighting the use of dance & movement therapy and co-regulation in early childhood.
Currently, I am assigned to Headwaters School at their Creek Campus supporting the elementary students, guides, and guardians in that community.
Outside of my dance & movement therapy sessions you can catch me recharging my batteries in the sun with a taco and a coffee, thrifting for my next costume inspiration, or escaping on my next adventure!
