Jennifer Cantu, LPC
Starting counseling can be overwhelming and it can take courage to start your journey. Whether you are new to counseling or have participated in the past, I am happy that you have taken the steps to take care of yourself and your loved ones. I am happy to offer a safe place, one that is accepting, confidential and comes without bias. Together I hope we can explore the obstacles and interferences that can sometimes cloud our best selves. Whether the struggles include a loss, trauma, major life change or a lack of enjoyment.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Regis University. I then received my Master of Arts in Counseling at The University of Texas in San Antonio. I have 7 years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings. Including in their homes, schools and hospitals. During this time, I learned how important it was to explore “their whole world” how they see it. Spending time with their school staff, parents and even doctors was such a gift in aiding them with their struggles. This led me to adult and couples counseling with a new lens. A lens that incorporates the client’s worldview which opens empathizing in a way that I feel really meets the client where they are. I have a special interest in working with teens/young adults, families struggling with issues of divorce, couples and adults seeking individual counseling.
In my free time I enjoy keeping up with my 5 children and attending Austin FC games with my husband.
