Sophia Wang, LPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, NCC, Supervised by Diana Walla, LPC-S, LMFT-S

Welcome! Thank you for taking this step towards this journey of growth. I believe that the relationships we develop with ourselves and others are the essence of meaning and fulfillment in our lives. The greatest investment we can make is in ourselves and our relationships. I invite you to learn more about me and my dedication to helping my clients maximize their potential.

I begin each new client journey with a focus on building a genuine and collaborative relationship with you so that I may tailor therapy to your individual needs. I strive to provide a non-judgmental environment where you are empowered to share and understand past patterns, but will also allow you to focus on solutions that will lead to a brighter future. During this experience, I will support you in exploring your deeper thoughts and feelings. You will find that our conversations are warm and comforting, but also direct. My goal is to empower you on your path toward becoming the best version of yourself.

Success in therapy comes from both an artful understanding of the needs of the soul as well using scientifically-proven techniques to enhance our growth, both physically and mentally. My practice applies evidence-based principles of emotionally focused therapy (EFT) as well as the Gottman approach to improve relationships. In EFT, we examine how attachment affects our interactions and how it can be used to strengthen emotional bonds. Through the Gottman approach, we gain deeper insight into the relationship dynamic and practice tools to work through conflict and increase intimacy, respect, and affection. I may also use techniques based on internal family systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic experiencing therapy, and mindfulness depending on your needs. Every client is unique, and it’s important for me to get a fundamental understanding of your concerns and goals for any reason you are coming to therapy.

When I’m not in sessions, I enjoy spending time traveling and learning about various cultures, cooking and trying new cuisines, country swing dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”
— Mister Rogers
