Michelle Beyer, LPC
AFC Hiring and Intakes Manager

As a therapist, it is vital for me to create a safe and warm relationship with my clients so that they feel comfortable expressing themselves and creating the change they desire. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are facing a variety of issues.

Specifically, I enjoy working with children with issues such as anxiety, perfectionism, peer/family relationships, and trauma. I have experience working with parents who are struggling to find the way to best parent their child. Parenting is difficult in the best of times and can become overwhelming when behavior issues or major life events are thrown in. I can provide the resources necessary to manage children’s behavior and create close and lasting bonds between parents and child.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Texas, and my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. There I was trained in play therapy and Child Parent Relationship Therapy. Additionally, I am certified in Positive Discipline, a parenting coaching model. I have worked in many areas with children, including as a swim instructor, preschool teacher, nanny, and a therapist.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with my husband and our cat Leo. I am looking forward to working with you and your child!
