I am so incredibly grateful that you’re here and have taken the leap to seek out therapy for you or your loved ones. I know from my own experience that entering therapy can feel vulnerable and uncertain. However, know that you are taking a brave step today in your journey.

Strength is the first word that comes to mind when I think about any individual entering into therapy. I believe that it is through trials and tribulations that we become the strongest version of ourselves. We can turn these into our own source of strength that is meant to carry us through life. I also believe the human spirit is highly resilient when given the opportunity and tools to overcome.

I have always been very passionate about helping others, even from a very young age. I always knew I wanted to be a therapist. I received my Bachelor Degree from Texas A&M in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Psychology. I then went to Texas State to receive my Masters of Arts in Professional and School Counseling. I also have experience working in  education as a teacher and school counselor. I am passionate about working with individuals of all ages but children, adolescents and teens hold a special place in my heart. While in education, I enjoyed making students and parents feel safe, understood and authentically cared for. I plan to carry this high level of care over into working at AFC. Depending on the age group, I will utilize play therapy, sand tray therapy, mindfulness, expressive arts and talk therapy. I also have taught many parent groups, served on the equity board for my district and helped to develop a program for self-efficacy in students that is utilized today.

A Little About ME

I also have experience working with individual adults, couples and families. I counsel each age group from a holistic perspective which means I believe incorporating all parts of a human being’s journey, mind, body and spirit into therapy. I also believe that you are the expert on yourself. It is my job to listen and discover what your needs are so I can use my expertise to help you live your most authentic and best life. With that, it is my goal to create a warm and accepting environment so that my clients can find freedom from self-judgment. I strive for my clients to refrain from viewing a struggle as a sign of moral failure or weakness but as the complex reality that it is. While I am a mainly a person-centered therapist, I work from many different therapeutic modalities to find the best care for my clients. In that regard, I am a life-long learner and thrive on opportunities for growth so that I can continue to be highly skilled and competent so all sessions are beneficial.

Most of all, I am extremely passionate about the art and work that goes into building an incredibly authentic and safe relationship with my clients. It is detrimental to the success we have together. I use my authentic style to better understand my clients as unique individuals as they discover hope, change and healing with the highest quality of care. My goal is to gently guide you to go deeper in your own therapeutic work in a safe environment with me, when you’re ready. I can’t wait to get started!

When I’m not with clients I enjoy spending time with my husband, my sweet kitty, family, friends, singing and volunteering as a writer, author and MC for a women’s organization I am in.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
