Leanna Hammett, LPC
AFC Clinical Team Manager

From my own life experience, I know it can be intimidating and scary to reach out for help. I truly believe that together we can create your best life, in a way that feels comfortable and safe for you.  I look forward to beginning that journey with you.

I have experience working with individual adults, couples, and children. When working with adults, I firmly believe that you are the expert on yourself, and I will gladly follow your lead, gently guiding and encouraging you to go deeper in your own therapeutic work when you feel ready.

Similarly, I practice child-centered play therapy, letting the child use their own unique voice, expressed through the language of play, to tell me what is happening in their world and lead me where they need to go. In my various roles working with children over the past 15 years, including nannying, teaching in a Montessori preschool, and counseling, I have learned that sometimes simply having a safe space to explore thoughts and emotions can make all the difference in behavior.

I love seeing clients who allow me to walk alongside them in their own personal journey, whatever that may look like for them. I am passionate about assisting that powerful, and very personal, process of change and growth; and I look forward to helping you utilize your own natural strengths and self-awareness to create a life you feel excited about.

Although you already have many of the tools you need for change, what I bring to our collaboration is training, experience, and support. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor–Intern, under the supervision of Tammy Fisher, LPC-S. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Furman University and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. Professionally, I have over three years experience working with clients of all ages and from all walks of life, but more than anything, it is my personal life and my natural inclination to help that led me to where I am as a therapist today.

If it sounds like I might be a good fit for you, please feel free to reach out to me whenever you feel ready to do so.
