Kathryn Bates, LPC-Intern
Under the Supervision of Shelley Coleman, LPC-S

I am a licensed professional counselor intern under the supervision of Shelley Coleman, LPC-S. I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Hendrix College and Masters of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. I predominately work with: children (10+), teens/ tweens, young adults and geriatrics. I love utilizing a variety of techniques to create a space in which clients are able to explore, ask the tough questions, implement solutions, and be their most authentic selves.

I feel very lucky that my background has lead me to appreciate and contribute to counseling. I want to be a part of your journey, whatever that may be. As a huge proponent that relationships are the key to nourishing a healthier and happier lifestyle, I make it a priority to give clients unconditional positive regard. It is my goal, as a therapist, to empower clients and collaboratively work alongside them.

I have extensive experience working with issues such as: ADHD, anxiety, behavioral/ developmental issues, depression, distress tolerance/ emotional regulation, school problems, self-esteem, social skills, parent- child interaction as well as other mental health issues.  I understand starting the therapeutic process is challenging in itself and believe that a good therapeutic experience starts with the right fit. Please reach out with any further questions, comments, or concerns! I look forward to working with you soon!
